We have been at the industry meeting of conservatory and patio roof builders for 3 years now. On November 14/15, 2024, the who’s who of the industry met in Berlin. In addition to a great program of the event of the Bundesverband Wintergarten e.V. with interesting lectures covering different areas of conservatory construction, this time there was also a highlight in the evening and a relaunch. This time, the event focused on specialist conservatory construction topics such as: Future technology, glass breakage analysis, liability for defects or LED – lighting in conservatories .
Interview with Manuel Dillmann:
“The first” association conference of the Bundesverband Wintergarten e.V. in Berlin was a great experience for me, and I am delighted with the event.
I particularly enjoyed the interesting exchange about the current situation with the other members. At a time when we are concerned about the future, it is particularly valuable to share these thoughts and worries with like-minded people.
I also felt that our workshop in the well-filled hall on the subject of LED lighting in the conservatory was a complete success.
Another highlight was dinner at the Käfer in the glass dome of the Bundestag. The location above the city was simply breathtaking and gave the evening a very special atmosphere.
The informative specialist presentations on a wide range of topics in the conservatory were also great. It was exciting to hear from experts and gain new perspectives. Overall, the event was an inspiring platform for exchange and networking.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Bundesverband Wintergarten e.V. for a really successful event! We will of course be back in 2025. “
The program
First Chairman Peter Ertelt opened the annual symposium of the Bundesverband Wintergarten e.V., to which over 100 colleagues from the conservatory and glass construction sector were invited. Futurologist Kai Gondlach, founder of the Leipzig-based futurology institute PROFO-RE and graduate of the first Master’s degree program in futurology in Germany, gave the first presentation. Under the title “The future is a question of perspective”, he presented key trends such as the growing importance of artificial intelligence and new forms of work, highlighting both risks and opportunities.
In his presentation, Jürgen Sieber, ö.b.u.v. expert from Stetten, dealt with the topic of “glass breakage analysis”, which is particularly relevant for the conservatory sector. He explained how to determine the cause of damage based on the crack pattern and went into the basics of glass breakage analysis and different types of cracks.
1st workshop with ExtremeLine
This year we once again had the honor of opening the lecture program with the 1st workshop and gave a lecture on the subject of ” LED lighting in conservatories.
In our presentation, we not only discussed the basics of lighting, but also talked about the characteristics of quality in LEDs and what there is to consider when it comes to lighting in conservatories. . We also talked about smart home integration, control types and the most important standards for LEDs. The topic of the Ecodesign Directive should be mentioned here in particular, as it is becoming increasingly important and is a purchasing aspect for customers.
The 2nd workshop deals with the topic “Acceptance as the linchpin in the execution of contracts for work and services”. Key aspects associated with proper acceptance will be discussed. It is a legal act that consists of the acceptance of the service by the creditor of a purchase and work contract.
The 3rd workshop was dedicated to the “Innovations in the current RAL guidelines for the installation of windows”. There was an overview of the innovations in the current RAL guidelines from April 2024 as well as interesting facts about the installation of curtain walls, which are relevant for conservatory and glass roof construction.
The 4th workshop dealt with glass breakage and the analysis of breakage patterns. The various reasons why glass breaks were investigated and how these can still be traced later on the basis of the fracture pattern.
The 5th workshop focuses on how to understand balance sheets and manage them with key figures, in particular by using the monthly BWA for effective operational management and for preparing the necessary information in key data.
The evening of the first day continued with the highlight: the participants met in the restaurant in the glass dome above the Bundestag. As usual, this was also used for an intensive exchange of experiences and networking.
The second day began with the regular members’ meeting, during which the relaunch of the logo, claim and website of the Bundesverband Wintergarten e.V. was announced. The technical program then continued with the workshops on the topic of innovations in the current RAL guidelines for the installation of windows with Christian Anders. This was followed by the final specialist lecture from the “Sales” section. Under the title “Cheaper is always possible – but better too!”, Markus Milz (Milz & Comp. GmbH Unternehmensberatung) will present sales strategies for conservatories and patio roofs in the area of conflict between reluctance to buy and low-cost suppliers.
In addition to the specialist program, the conference was complemented by a foyer exhibition. Suppliers to the conservatory industry and system providers presented their solutions here and facilitated intensive discussions in small groups. This, as well as the numerous technical discussions during the breaks, ensured an intensive exchange of experiences during the Winter Garden Days.
